Commemorative Service for Nurses – 2016

The 2016 ANZAC Commemorative Service was held on the 17th April, a beautiful autumn day. Well attended by representatives from various nursing organisations, families of service nurses, universities, schools and veteran’s organistaions, the Service was led by Dr Ruth Redpath. The Nurses Memorial Centre’s (Acting) President, Mrs Karla Freer addressed those in attendance and Group Captain Paula Ibbotson, Director Of Defence Force Nursing read the Ode. The KeyTones choir performed a moving rendition of the Captives Hymn. In all, over 50 organistions and individuals laid wreaths at the memorial on St Kilda Rd.  Following the Service, guests enjoyed afternoon tea and an engaging address by Captain Amanda Garlick about nursing in the Australian Navy.
